Holachef, a Mumbai based food tech startup has announced that it raised $3.1 Million (Approx. INR 20 Cr.) from Kalaari Capital with participation from its existing investor India Quotient.
The raised funds will be used to build powerful supply chain and to enhance its infrastructure, technology and delivery. The company also plans to set up a central kitchen for chefs from where the chefs can prepare food.
Though the startup has not a physical presence yet, it connects expert chefs with customers through its website and mobile apps on Android and iPhone. It currently serves only in Mumbai in the regions like Andheri, Powai and Bandra Kurla Complex, Juhu, etc.
Holachef has a very reasonable pricing model where the meal offered is priced in between INR 120 to INR 350. Along with this price it offers a new food menu every day to choose from.
Saurabh Saxena, co-founder, Holachef said,”Considering the extreme environment in which deliveries happen in this country, it is important for us to invest in infrastructure.”
Founded by IIT-Bombay alumnus Saurabh Saxena, Anil Gelra and Ritu Rana in 2014, the startup claims to have more than 1,000 orders per day in its basket with more than 150 chefs on its platform.
