Gurgaon based food-tech startup innerChef has raised a pre-series round of $1.66mn (Approx. INR 11 Cr.) from a number of leading investors. The round was led by Phanindra Sama (redBus), Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm), Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com), Vishal Gondal (GOQii, exited from Indiagames), etc.
innerChef co-founder Rajesh Sawhney said, “We are extremely pleased to have received support from the leading Indian and International Technology founders. We believe this demonstrates their confidence in our Kitchen-in-the-cloud business model, strength of our team, and awesome growth trajectory.” For innerChef, a departure from the norm is that it doesn’t have an app but mainly relies on the web for taking in orders.
The raised funds will be used to expand the operations to new cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. The company will also focus on boosting its newly launched hyper local desert marketplace, Indulge. The platform will be initially launched in Gurgaon and South Delhi, and will subsequently aggregate 100K home bakers across 100 Indian cities within a year.
innerChef co-founder Rajesh Sawhney is also the founder of GSF Accelerator and a majority of investors in this round of funding for innerChef have also invested in GSF.
The food-tech space is grabbing a lot of attention from the investors as prior to innerChef’s funding another Gurgaon based food-tech startup Bueno has raised $600k in its pre-series A funding.
