A banker turning into an entrepreneur, is not unlikely, but a banker turning into a media entrepreneur and trying to bring art and internet together, not only sounds unlikely, but also sounds difficult, doesn’t it? Difficult it was, but like it’s said nothing is impossible. This age old thought prodded Anand Kekre, to quit his 11 years of banking experience and venture into the unknown.This courage also grew form the fact that Anand is a Hindustani Classical violinist, but had to sideline the idea of passionately pursuing his hobby due to the daily demands of life. He also realized that many artistes had to give up on their dreams due to a dearth of opportunities. Hence in July 2014 came Smeam.
Joining hands with him and carrying the same vision were the following core group members:
• Jignesh Vasavada , Co-Founder: Seasoned Media Expert. More than 18 Yrs work experience with Media Giants like HT, Indian Express and Times Group.
• Ankit Arora, Co-Founder & Head E-Ticketing: A Radio Jockey by profession. Also a prominent voice-over & theater artist.
• Mangesh Kekre, Chief Financial Officer: A Chartered Account by profession. 10 years of expertise in Accounting, Audits, Taxes and Company laws.
• Bijoy Mathews, Sales Head: An ex-banker with 14 years of experience in setting up distribution networks for Multinational Giants like Escorts, GE & Citibank.
• Sourabh Kekre, Head Operations: An ex-banker with 7 years of experience at GE, HSBC & Kotak Mahindra, tremendously interested in music, sports, etc.
A very unique feature of Smeam is that they don’t take any commissions from Artistes on receiving assignments through them and their Major source of revenue is:
- Subscriptions from Institutes.
- Value added services provided to Artists.
- Online Ticketing of Events.
At Smeam, professional & aspiring Artistes can also learn & remain updated with the latest happenings through Articles, blogs and videos.

In a short span of around 7 months, as of today, based out of Ahmedabad, Smeam has added 30 plus events, including famous Ruhaniyat (Music Festival), Musicafest, Kadak Badshahi (Play), MTV indies’s Big 69 (Music Concert), Miss Odisha (Beauty Pageant), to its e ticketing , which was launched in November 2014. The number of listed events is approx 2000+ and there are about 100+ articles and videos for all those who believe that learning never ends.
