Snapdeal Uttarakhand Handicraft

The Uttarakhand Government has signed an agreement with the online marketplace Snapdeal to promote and sell handicraft & handlooms through Snapdeal. The agreement was signed between Uttarakhand Handloom and Handicraft Development Council (UHHDC) and Snapdeal in the presence of state small scale industries Minister Harish Chandra Durgapal and a host of senior officials.

The Government aims to give the local products a boost and empower the craftspersons, giving them freedom to choose buyers who can offer them higher prices through this partnership.

Around 100 popular handloom and handicraft products under the brand name Himadri will be sold on Snapdeal at the initial phase and more to be added in near future.

The UHHDC has emporiums in Chamoli, Pauri, Almora, Haridwar and Dehradun for handloom and handicraft products of the state which will ship the products to the online shoppers.

The senior Vice President (market Development) of Snapdeal, Vishal Chaddha said that the company would launch a sub store with the brand name of ‘UHHDC Himadri emporium’ which would be dedicated to promoting handicrafts of Uttarakhand.

He also said that the endeavor of Snapdeal is to contribute in changing the life of its stakeholders by providing direct access of market to the small enterprises with the help of technology.

Chaddha was confident that the move would not only strengthen the UHHDC but most importantly would help the small entrepreneurs in realizing their dreams.
